Joyce
Johnson is Senior Vice President, Operations at the 609-bed
Georgetown University Hospital [GUH], Washington, D.C.
Her responsibilities encompass strategic planning, administration,
and oversight of hospital operations across five divisions.
These include such diverse areas as nursing, clinical
support functions such as lab, interventional services,
radiology, respiratory therapy, etc., facilities management,
building and renovations, nutrition services, materials
management, environmental services, human resources,
property management, and biomedical engineering. Most
recently, she successfully led the initiative to attain
Magnet Recognition for GUH. She holds an adjunct faculty
appointment at Catholic University of America and at
the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
She lectures throughout the country and has published
numerous articles on nursing shortage issues, nursing
management, information systems technology, and quality
improvement as well as books on bedside computers and
business plans for nursing. Dr. Johnson is active in
a number of national health care and nursing organizations.
She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and
has received the American Organization of Nurse Executives'
Baxter Award for Quality Innovations in Patient Care.
She is also a recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award
in Nursing from the Catholic University of America. Dr.
Johnson served four terms on the National League for
Nursing Board of Governors, two terms on the Board of
Governors for the American Organization of Nurse Executives
and is a member of the Board of Visitors for the Georgetown
University School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Currently,
she is President of the District of Columbia Organization
of Nurse Executives. When relaxing, Joyce enjoys spending
time with her family and exercising. |

Molly Billingsley is Assistant Vice President of Operations Support and Director of Magnet at Georgetown University Hospital. In addition to assuring that the Division of Nursing continually maintains and enhances an environment based on the 14 Forces of Magnet, she oversees the Nurse Recruitment and Retention function, HIPAA compliance and patient and employee satisfaction survey coordination. Prior to coming to Georgetown, she spent 14 years as a member of the senior leadership team at the Washington Hospital Center. She has held university faculty and administrative positions at several baccalaureate and graduate level nursing programs. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Billingsley has published some 75 articles and book chapters, and has spoken widely on issues in health care including numerous presentations on aspects of the impending shortage. She serves as a Magnet Appraiser fellow for the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She holds a doctoral degree from Boston University, and masters degrees from University of Virginia and George Mason University. |
